The Family Home Program is a specialized Foster Care Unit with Edmonton & Area Child & Family Services Region 6 that supports approved Foster homes which provide care for children with medical &/or mental &/or physical disabilities.
Foster Parents are people like you; they come from all walks of life and all parts of society. People with previous experience with disabled children or medical training may be may be particularly interested in using their skills in this program. |

There are few supports available with this program e.g. Monthly support groups with other parents who are fostering children with disabilities, regular newsletters, regular contact with your worker and Child & Family Services Worker or FSCD Worker, Edmonton & District Family Support Association (EDFSA), Alberta Foster Parent Association (AFPA), Orientation for Caregivers Training and supplementary training through Edmonton & Area Child & Family Services Region 6. Social Events, Regular formal and informal recognition.
There is also training available through Home Care, Grant MacEwan Community College, and in some cases; hospital staff. Relief/Respite services may be available to Foster Families as determined by policy.
